Eat, Sip & Explore: Grand Cayman In October

October is a particularly exciting month for food lovers in Grand Cayman. With Restaurant Month and Cocktail Week taking place, it’s an opportunity to discover new restaurants, revisit local favourites and experience more of the island’s thriving food and cocktail scene.
For returning visitors, Restaurant Month is a great excuse to try somewhere new. This year, the restaurants at One GT Hotel have joined in, with participating concepts including Perle, a high-end French-Mediterranean fusion restaurant, and casual Café Bellini, known for its Italian pastries. With set menus at both restaurants, diners will get the chance to discover something new and experience how our island’s culinary scene continues to evolve.

While the hotel’s rooftop restaurant and bar, Byu, may not be participating in Restaurant Month, a cocktail here is highly recommended. As the island’s highest rooftop bar, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a drink while taking in Grand Cayman from new heights.
Of course, sometimes the best choice is returning to a restaurant you already know and love. Lloyd’s Steakhouse, The Kitchen and Grand Old House are among the long-standing favourites worth considering for a Restaurant Month lunch or dinner. And for something particularly special, UNION Bar & Grill recently received the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Rating, joining just 10 other restaurants across the Caribbean to hold the distinction. It’s another indication of the calibre of dining available in Cayman.
One of the advantages of staying on Seven Mile Beach is just how easy it is to explore the Restaurant Month options. For those staying at Christopher Columbus Condos, there are options just a stone’s throw away, including beach bar and restaurant Bonny Moon at Hotel Indigo and the canalside setting of Bàcaro. In the West Bay area, NOVA, Ristorante Pappagallo and Tukka West Bay are also great choices for an afternoon lunch or evening of dining.

Cocktail Week Grand Cayman
Then there’s Cocktail Week, which provides another reason to head out for the evening. Cayman’s bar scene has grown considerably, with creative cocktails and world-class bars adding another dimension to our food and beverage culture. Throughout October, you’ll find turquoise menus featured at a range of bars, alongside special events. Signature events that regularly sell out include the themed Agua Cocktail Dinner, a multi-course meal with cocktail pairings, and my personal crafty favourite, Mad Tea Party, combining afternoon tea, embroidery and, of course, cocktails.
For visitors staying at Christopher Columbus Condos or along Seven Mile Beach, you have an ideal home base for doing exactly that. With many restaurants, bars and the beach all within easy reach, you can spend less time worrying about where to go and more time enjoying Cayman’s culinary scene.
So, if you’re planning a Grand Cayman getaway this October, come hungry! Restaurant Month and Cocktail Week offer the perfect excuse to eat, sip and explore your way around the island.
