Come As You Are

Most Laid-Back Oceanfront Dining

These spots are relaxed, welcoming, and effortlessly Cayman.

gorgeous sunset on thatched hut at my bar

My Bar at Sunset House

Beloved by locals, My Bar at Sunset House has an off-the-beaten-path feel. It’s right outside of George Town (away from the bustle) and the bar/restaurant itself is tucked behind Sunset House, a boutique dive resort. Perched directly over the water, this open-air bar and restaurant invites guests to kick back with a cold drink, watch divers enter the sea below, and soak up postcard-worthy sunset views.

While the setting alone draws a crowd, My Bar is also especially well known for its Indian menu, which has earned a loyal following and adds an unexpected (and delicious) twist to this laid-back seaside staple.

Best time to go: Late afternoon into sunset for golden views and an easygoing crowd.

iconic macabuca sign

Macabuca

A long-time favorite of ours, Macabuca is a West Bay institution beloved by locals and visitors alike. Located right on the ironshore, the atmosphere is unpretentious and social. They’re known for great drinks, fresh bites and their glorious homemade ice cream sandwich bars. You’ll leave satisfied and with a blissful, island soul.

Arrive early to enjoy a snorkel directly from the restaurant. A beautiful cove surrounded by ironshore sits right next to the restaurant, and ladder access makes it easy to hop in and go. And whether or not you partake in snorkeling yourself, you’ll enjoy watching others come and go from their underwater adventures.

Best time to go: Lunch after a morning snorkel, or early evening for dinner that turns into drinks at sunset.

great drinks and eat at vivo

Vivo

Bright, breezy, and health-forward, Vivo brings a fresh twist to oceanfront dining. Overlooking the sea in West Bay, this cheerful spot is known for its relaxed energy and thoughtfully crafted menu. One standout dish that comes highly recommended is the CocoMari — coconut strips prepared in the style of calamari — and their fish dishes are consistently excellent, making Vivo a go-to for lighter meals that don’t sacrifice flavor.

Best time to go: Breakfast or lunch, when the ocean views feel especially calm and refreshing.

rackam's sea view and tarpon feeding

Rackham’s

Set right along the water in George Town, Rackham’s is casual and easy to pop into time and time again. Its deck juts out directly over the sea, where tarpon are almost always visible beneath the surface. Each evening at 7:30 pm, Rackham’s hosts a nightly tarpon feeding, a long standing tradition that draws a crowd. Watching these massive fish gather is a favorite activity for kids and a joyful spectacle for all ages.

They also offer the option to snorkel from their deck. If you’re feeling adventurous, hop in and swim with the tarpon.

Best time to go: Arrive before 7:30 pm to grab a seat and enjoy the tarpon feeding. (Insider tip: Even without the official feeding, tarpon are almost always nearby waiting for scraps, so you can enjoy them just about anytime of day!)

Luca sign at front of property and champagne cheers

Luca

Overlooking the northern end of Seven Mile Beach, Luca delivers sophisticated dining with a contemporary edge. The elegant dining room opens to a lovely patio that looks towards the property pool that continues towards the sea. While this option is more set back from the ocean when it comes to the view the food makes up for it many times over.

Additional Waterfront Options

Located on a peaceful canal in West Bay, Morgan’s pairs refined dining with tranquil water views. Watching boats glide past at sunset adds a serene backdrop that feels both intimate and upscale.

A Perfect Match for Your Stay

Whether you’re heading out for a casual lunch or an evening celebration, these west-side locations allow you to spend less time traveling and more time enjoying the island.

Of course, Grand Cayman’s oceanfront dining doesn’t stop here. Guests with extra time may want to explore additional seaside restaurants on scenic day trips to the North Side or East End, where less trafficked coastlines and quieter surroundings offer a different — but equally memorable — island dining experience.
